Direct-Pay Primary Care

In addition to treating cardiac issues, Trinity Heart and Vascular Group is pleased to provide primary care services for you and your family.

Nolan Hensley, PA-C offers primary care services for adults and children (ages 6 and up) through our ‘direct-pay’ pricing model.

Nolan offers these services at our Greeneville location, and treats a wide range of urgent and non-urgent health needs.

Our Approach

Our version of Direct-Pay Primary Care (DPPC) is what we call a “classic” approach. Our approach is “classic” because it represents the outpatient medical care model from several decades ago.

Historically, insurance companies were not involved in a patient’s primary care needs, and as a result, medical care was more accessible.

Like other DPPC providers (whom we enthusiastically support), our patients pay us directly for their medical services without using insurance. This allows patients to be seen promptly, and it ensures that their office visits won’t be rushed.

In our DPPC model, patients do not pay a monthly or yearly membership fee. They only pay for the services they need on the day that those services are rendered.

This “pay as you need it” approach is immensely helpful to patients who cannot afford a monthly or yearly membership fee, and can be a more affordable option for those who are uninsured or who have high-deductible insurance plans.

It can also be ideal for patients who don’t anticipate needing multiple office visits every month.

Our Services and Prices

Office Visits starting at $75 per visit*

*Office visit pricing depends upon the complexity of your health issue. For new patients who haven’t been to our practice before, the price ranges from $75 – $150 for the first office visit. Lab work and testing is an additional cost.

We’re here to do the work for you! If you call us at (423) 588-5660, one of our friendly staff members will help you determine if your health issue is a low-, medium-, or high-complexity issue.

We offer multiple types of office visits to accommodate a wide range of medical needs. This allows us to price our services as fairly as possible.

Absolutely! If Nolan decides that you need blood work, you don’t have to go to a separate location — you can get your labs done in the comfort of our office.

Our blood lab prices are much cheaper than other direct-pay (‘cash’) prices. For example, a Vitamin D blood test at most popular lab test locations is usually $75 – $100. At our office, it’s only $30!

Yes! However, we’re not a walk-in clinic. Instead, we schedule an appointment for you so that you don’t have to sit in a waiting room for hours!

We strive to offer same-day and next-day appointments for urgent medical needs — meaning, needs that are not a life-threatening emergency. (If you’re experiencing a life-threatening emergency, you should call 9-1-1, or go to the nearest ER.)

We also offer appointments for non-urgent needs as well!

If you’re looking for a primary care provider to monitor your chronic health issues and/or to provide annual wellness exams, Nolan is happy to be part of your ongoing health journey.*

*Please note that we do not offer OB/GYN services, and we cannot treat very young pediatric patients (ages 0-5).

No. Membership is not required since we do things differently. Most direct-pay primary care practices charge a monthly fee that has to be paid every 30 days, regardless of whether you need medical care every month.

While that setup can work well for individuals with chronic health issues, it’s not always cost effective for individuals who only need occasional office visits.

That’s why we don’t have a membership model — so that you have the option to only pay for medical care when you need it.

Yes! We offer a ‘simple medical history’ or basic physical for work, school, and/or sports. The cost is $70.

If you need a basic physical for a driver’s license, we do those as well for the same price.

If you scroll down a little, you’ll see a blue button below that says ‘View PDF.’  When you click on that button, it will open a PDF document that shows our price list for office visits, as well as common tests and labs that we offer.

Please Note:

  • We are unable to provide primary care services for very young pediatric patients (ages 0-5).
  • We do not prescribe narcotics.
  • We do not provide OB/GYN services.
  • We do not provide immunizations. (If you wish to receive a certain type of immunization, many local pharmacies and walk-in clinics offer those services.)

A Note to Patients Who Have Commercial Health Insurance or Medicare

While we do not submit claims to health insurance companies or Medicare, we gladly welcome patients who have these plans.

For individuals who are enrolled in a commercial health insurance plan:

Commercial insurers may provide some reimbursement for office visits and testing done at our facility, depending on the type of plan that you have. We highly recommend that you call your insurance company ahead of time to find out if you have ‘out-of-network’ benefits (if you wish to be partially reimbursed by your insurance company).

Even if you don’t have out-of-network benefits, our ‘direct pay’ model is much more affordable than most people think. If you are one of the many individuals or families who have a high-deductible plan, you may save a significant amount of money on treatment and testing by coming to our practice!

For individuals who are enrolled in Medicare:

At our practice, Medicare (Part B) cannot be billed, nor a claim submitted by either the practice or the patient for office-based services. This is because our providers have “opted out” of Medicare for all medical services, including cardiovascular and primary care services.

This means that all office visits and testing that are performed at our facility cannot be reimbursed by Medicare.

However, Medicare will pay for any covered tests and treatments that are ordered by our medical providers, if those services are performed at a different facility that accepts Medicare payments.

In other words, you will pay ‘out of pocket’ for any office visits at our practice, but we can refer you to a different medical facility for testing and treatment (if you need it), so that your testing can be covered by Medicare (if that’s what you prefer).
