Direct-Pay Primary Care
In addition to treating cardiac issues, Trinity Heart and Vascular Group is pleased to provide primary care services for you and your family.
Nolan Hensley, PA-C offers primary care services for adults and children (ages 6 and up) through our ‘direct-pay’ pricing model.
These services are offered at our Greeneville location.

Our Approach

Our version of Direct-Pay Primary Care (DPPC) is what we call a “classic” approach. Our approach is “classic” because it represents the outpatient medical care model from several decades ago.
Historically, insurance companies were not involved in a patient’s primary care needs, and as a result, medical care was more accessible.
Like other DPPC providers (whom we enthusiastically support), our patients pay us directly for their medical services without using insurance. This allows patients to be seen promptly, and it ensures that their office visits won’t be rushed.
In our DPPC model, patients do not pay a monthly or yearly membership fee. They only pay for the services they need on the day that those services are rendered.
This “pay as you need it” approach is immensely helpful to patients who cannot afford a monthly or yearly membership fee, and can be a more affordable option for those who are uninsured or who have high-deductible insurance plans.
It can also be ideal for patients who don’t anticipate needing multiple office visits every month.

A Note to Patients Who Have Commercial Health Insurance or Medicare
While we do not submit claims to commercial health insurance or Medicare, we heartily welcome patients who have these plans.
For individuals who are enrolled in a commercial health insurance plan:
Commercial insurers may provide some reimbursement for office visits and testing done at our facility, depending on the type of plan that you have. We highly recommend that you call your insurance company ahead of time to find out if you have ‘out-of-network’ benefits (if you wish to be partially reimbursed by your insurance company).
Even if you don’t have out-of-network benefits, our ‘direct pay’ model is much more affordable than most people think. If you are one of the many individuals or families who have a high-deductible plan, you may save a significant amount of money on treatment and testing by coming to our practice!
For individuals who are enrolled in Medicare:
At our practice, Medicare (Part B) cannot be billed, nor a claim submitted by either the practice or the patient for office-based services. This is because our providers have “opted out” of Medicare for all medical services, including cardiovascular and primary care services.
This means that all office visits and testing that are performed at our facility cannot be reimbursed by Medicare.
However, Medicare will pay for any covered tests and treatments that are ordered by our medical providers, if those services are performed at a different facility that accepts Medicare payments.
In other words, you will pay ‘out of pocket’ for any office visits at our practice, but we can refer you to a different medical facility for testing and treatment (if you need it), so that your testing can be covered by Medicare (if that’s what you prefer).
